Researchers with the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research are conducting a research study evaluating prescription medications. Basic information • Ages 18 to 55 years old • The study requires you to stay in the UK hospital for approximately 4 weeks • Participants will be administered two oral study medications approx. 3 days per week. These drugs are FDA-approved prescription medications. Screening • First step to determining your eligibility is to do a confidential phone screen (Call: 1-866-933-4859 or Text: 859-285-0346). • Usually 2-3 screening visits: During in-person screening visits we will ask you questions about your drug use and health, collect breath and urine samples for alcohol and drug testing (these urine samples will be observed by a staff member), collect blood for laboratory testing and an ECG to check your heart. • Each screening appointment lasts approx. 3-4 hrs. • Transportation may be provided, or you may be compensated for travel. Payment • $50 for each screening visit. • You may receive gas/travel payment • Inpatient payment: If you enroll in the study, you will be paid $60 per night while you are in the hospital. If you complete the entire study, you will get a completion bonus of an extra $60 for each night that you were in the study ($120/night for completers). • Follow-up appointment (2-4 weeks after study completion): $25 • The total earnings for the study are approximately $3600. Researchers with the University of Kentucky Center on Drug and Alcohol Research are conducting a marijuana and opioid research study. Basic information • Ages 18 to 50 • Individuals who use marijuana and opioids; do not get sick when they stop using opioids (not physically dependent on opioids) • Inpatient study (live at the UK Hospital) for about 4.5- 5 weeks • Participants will be administered vaporized marijuana and intranasal opioids (alone and in combination) during the study to determine their effect on your mood and body. • Not a treatment study – not for individuals who want to quit using opioids or marijuana Screening • First step to determining your eligibility is to do a confidential phone screen (Call: 1-866-933-4859 or Text: 859-285-0346). • Usually 2-3 screening visits: During in-person screening visits we will ask you questions about your drug use and health, collect breath and urine samples for alcohol and drug testing (these urine samples will be observed by a staff member), collect blood for laboratory testing and an ECG to check your heart. • Transportation may be provided, or you may be compensated for travel.
